How To Cancel MTN Autorenew
MTN data plans also has the autorenew feature unless you opt-out.
To stop Autorenewal on MTN, you have to use the specific deactivation code of your active data plan.
Send the deactivation code to 131 to cancel MTN autorenew.
The deactivation code contains “NO” and the plans activation code.

With 9mobile, a simple code will do the job of canceling all automatic data renewal.
The cancellation code for 9mobile autorenew is *229*0#.
You will receive a confirmatory message from 9mobile after dialing this cancellation code.
After this, your 9mobile data bundle can expire without costing you money.
You can also text STOP to 229 to stop 9mobile automatic renewal.
How To Stop Autorenew On Glo
Lastly, we look at Glo autorenew feature.
To cancel Glo autorenew text CANCEL to 127.
Your Glo data plan can then expire without unplanned airtime deduction.
How To Avoid The Trap Of Auto-Renew
According to NCC, telcos must inform customers of auto-renew option. When subscribing for any data plan on MTN, Glo, Airtel or 9mobile, you will get a confirmation prompt after your subscription is successful. This prompt gives you two options.
1 is to activate autorenew and 2 is for autorenew deactivation.
If you paid attention and reply with 2, you will be opted out of automatic renewal. But many people mistakenly reply with 1 or don’t reply at all. When you don’t respond to the prompt, you autorenew is activated for you.
